A Question Of Origins
I have submitted a thread like this a while ago but thought I would do it again as there are so many new faces around. It will be interresting to hear your views.
As I see it there are two schools of thought - Evolution or Inteligent Design. These two are opposed to each other, the first trying to explain how it all happened without design whereas the other accepts that there is a Designer to it all. I belong (glad to say) to the second and believe that it is God who designed everything. I believe in the Biblical account and that it all took place 6000 to 10000 years ago and took 7 24 hour days. Not as the evolutionists say millions or even billions of years. Two scientific facts I know are :- 1 The sun, as it burns is (like a coal fire) getting smaller and the rate it is doing this has been measured. That is how they can come up with a time in the far future when it will burn out. As the can work out that they can also work backwards and obviously as they do the sun gets bigger and nearer to the Earth. There is a point when after which no life could exist on the Earth and guess what? It is between 6 - 10000years NOT millions. 2 The second concerns the Moon. The moons orbit is actually getting bigger each year and therefore getting farther away from the Earth. As with the Sun it can be calculated when it was at its nearest point to the Earth for life to exist - nowhere millions of years ago but again supporting the Bibilcal time frame. When they (Evolutionists) that dynasaurs lived millions years before man they are infact saying DEATH came before man (Adam) sinned. I have always believed it was Adam's sin that brought death into the world. To me sin is disobeying God and when that happens all the concequencies occur - wars, thieving, rape, murder etc. My last point is this, Jesus believed in Adam and Eve, and if He did then so do I

Re: A Question Of Origins
Well said Danny C. Yes I too believe in God created rather than Evolution, the bible is so clear on this matter as we know. Here are some of the scriptures:
Gen 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. In these verses, we can see God used the Holy Spirit in the creation, then: 20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. Here we can see God created living creatures, birds, etc according to their kinds, not left to Evolution. The same also for Adam and Eve: 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Yes everything points to an Inteligent Designer, God.

Re: A Question Of Origins
The bible states God created but it does not tell us how.

Re: A Question Of Origins
Is there some reason why God could not create evolution , which is pretty intelligent design ?
Either way He hot a human race, which is what He wanted
